The Women’s Health & Cognition Study is enrolling women age 35 and older who may have a higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease later in life. This study explores the relationship between hormone declines with menopause and brain changes contributing to cognition in aging females. Women across all reproductive stages are welcome to participate, though there is a special interest in those who are actively going through menopause. Men age 55+ are also invited to this study to serve as healthy control subjects.
The overall goal of this research is to gain new insight that may improve women's health, shedding light on the disproportionate impact of age-related disease, particularly Alzheimer's disease, on females relative to males.
Participation in this study will involve completing 1 hour of MRI, during which participants will perform a cognitive task. We will also ask participants to provide a small saliva sample for hormone testing and complete a battery of surveys. Participants will be compensated $90 for their time and may receive a copy of their MRI scan and report of cognitive testing results if desired.
