Eligibility Requirements

  • Age 18 years or older
  • Lives with person with dementia or within 5 miles
  • Provides at least 8 hours of care per week
  • Self-identifies as Hispanic/Latino
  • Caregiver reports that person with dementia has 3 or more symptoms occurring 3 or more times in past week

About the Study:

Latinos are 1.5 times more likely to develop dementia compared to non-Latino White adults. Non-pharmacological interventions have been developed and tested to support caregivers of people living with dementia, but they are limited by the underrepresentation of Latinos. This study will pilot test a program that teaches Latino caregivers how to manage behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia.

Purpose:

The purpose of the study is to pilot test the program with Latinos providing care to a family member who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.

What is Involved:

Participants will:

-Complete online surveys.

-Complete a 7-week program online.

-Participate in an interview.
