An unpaid caregiver of a person with Alzheimer’s or related dementia
About the Study:
NAU researchers are conducting surveys and focus groups with caregivers living in Northern Arizona. Participants will receive a gift card. Once the study is complete, participants will receive a personalized map of health and support resources in their area.
Researchers are interested in the health of caregivers, and the resources they use and still need to maintain their physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Researchers want to develop programs that provide support to caregivers and that recognize the unique needs and assets of these populations in Northern Arizona. Results from this project will be used to inform culture-based programs for Hispanic/Latino, Native American, and rural caregivers. This study will combine findings from surveys and focus groups with caregivers, as well as interviews with policymakers and providers.
What is Involved:
The research study is for informal, unpaid caregivers to people with Alzheimer’s or dementia. The survey may be completed electronically or by pen/paper and returned to the research team in a postage-paid envelope. Focus groups will take place by telephone, at predesignated times, according to caregiver availability. Caregivers may complete the survey as well as participate in a focus group. They will receive a $25 gift card for each activity as a thank you for their time.
