About the Study:

Telehealth is an exciting new modality that can overcome many barriers to health care. A new telehealth system has recently been launched by the VA which allows patients to communicate with their providers from home via a tablet computer. Study researchers will investigate the feasibility of using this technology to provide yoga instruction to improve the health and wellbeing of patients with mild Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers.

Purpose:

The purpose of this study is to modify an existing teleyoga intervention to use with Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers. Participants and their yoga therapist will provide feedback to researchers about technical problems and satisfaction via semi-structured questionnaires.

What is Involved:

Study participants will connect to Zoom weekly at established days and times. Alzheimer patients will be given brief pain scales, scales to assess memory and thinking, mental health, and sleep quality.

Caregivers will be given measures of sleep quality, caregiver stress, and quality of life.

Week 1: Participants will be issued an Apple iPad. They will also receive a yoga mat, yoga strap, and yoga blocks.

Weeks 2-13: A yoga instructor will deliver the yoga session to the group each week.
