  • Interested in being proactive about their brain health

  • Have a computer or iPad with video and audio capability (for online coaching sessions)

About the Study:

This study is part of The BrainHealth Project, a prospective, longitudinal study focused on identifying determinants of brain health. If you are already a participant in the BrainHealth Project, you are not eligible for this study.

Participants start by getting a BrainHealth Index (a set of assessments), then meet virtually with their BrainHealth coach who is knowledgeable about Alzheimer’s. The coach will help translate the strategies to the challenges of caregiving. Progress is stored on a personalized, password-protected dashboard.

Participants in this study will have the opportunity to continue with The BrainHealth Project at the end of this 6-month study.

Purpose:

The purpose of Building Resilience in Caregivers is to:

  • Educate caregivers about the importance of taking care of their own brain health and to provide tools on ways to optimize brain function.
  • Explore whether online cognitive trainings, interventions and assessments are effective in impacting the brain health of caregivers.
  • Measure whether these offerings impact lifestyle choices and critical thinking skills of caregivers and help them manage and cope with caregiving while balancing their own brain health needs.

What is Involved:

Participants in this study will:

  1. Get a personal BrainHealth Index (BHI), a overall measure of your brain’s current fitness level at beginning of study and six months later.
  2. Have three live virtual feedback session with a trained BrainHealth coach to review the BHI and set goals.
  3. Start training with self-paced online modules to help uncover meaningful ways to make the brain as efficient and dependable as possible.

The online training modules show strategies to adopt brain-healthy habits. Each one is typically about 10 minutes long. Participants will get periodic email nudges and tips to help practice along the way, with suggested brain healthy habits that generally take about five minutes each.
