About The Study: 

USC is conducting an early phase clinical trial to evaluate the safety and effect of an investigational drug, allopregnanolone (Allo) on memory. The trial consists of a 16 week study to compare Allo to placebo. The study appointments will consist of cognitive assessment, brain scans, and study related care. ​

  • There is no cost to participate. 
  • Eligible participants will receive free physical and neurological exams, cognitive testing, and brain imaging (MRI scans). 
  • Compensation for travel is available.
Purpose: 

We are conducting a clinical trial in Alzheimer’s disease. The purpose of this study is to investigate the tolerability and optimal dose of the investigational drug Allopregnanolone.

What is Involved: 

The trial consists of a 16 week study to compare Allo vs. placebo. The study appointments will consist of cognitive assessment, brain scans, and study related care.

 

Eligibility Requirements: 

You may be eligible if:

  • Men or postmenopausal women
  • 55 years of age or older
  • Diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer’s or early Alzheimer’s
  • You have a study partner who knows you well and can accompany you to clinic visits
